Today I was inspired to write about Sex and the City again with the approach of the May 30 movie premiere. I was walking in NYC this afternoon, spotting sailors left and right in the streets during Fleet Week…then I passed a billboard for the movie. (Remember that Sex and the City episode where the girls were enjoying Fleet Week?) I couldn’t help notice how luminescent Sarah Jessica Parker’s makeup looked in the poster. Then flashback to this article I found the other day about the celebrity makeup artist, Nicki Lieberman, who developed the strategy for Carrie’s makeup looks throughout the show.
The article also talks about the makeup looks achieved in Devil Wears Prada. Great fashion flick for anyone who loves fashion or appreciates a good laugh. How did they create those makeup looks? Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Catrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis get together on May 12, 2008 for the Sex and the City’s Movie World Premiere in London. The movie is out in theatres on May 30!
Sex and the City will be a big hit in theatres. I saw part of the filming of the movie a few months ago. Walking to work, which was in front of the NY Public Library at the time, I saw all the crowds and film crew. I knew immediately it had to be SATC! They filmed in front of the library steps for most of the day, and I got to see Big and all the ladies in the cast! I was just a few feet away. They looked gorgeous! They were wearing beautiful gowns and apparently filming the wedding scene. I won’t give anything else away…
I even got to see Big again on the way home. Definitely a fun diversion for the day… Where’s the camera when you need one??

Cynthia Nixon’s makeup started looking pretty good towards the end of the Sex and the City TV series. We’re glad to see that she has great makeup people now! Check out Ms. Nixon at the Sex and the City movie premiere in London on May 12, 2008. We love the smoky, dramatic eyes and the pale lips. (Lovin the outfit–we want to that dress, too.) Today, we’ll talk about how to get Cynthia Nixon’s celebrity makeup look with pale pink lips.
How to Get Cynthia Nixon’s Sexy Nude Lip Look:
- Start with smooth, moisturized lips. Use a lip balm and/or lip exfoliant.
- Line the lips with a natural pink lipliner (we love MAC Spice lipliner), and color in the lips with the liner.
- Use a lipgloss to apply on top. Try a light, sheer pink gloss like The Balm in Watermelon (at Sephora) or a clear gloss like MAC’s lipglass.
This nude lip look is perfect when you want to do dramatic eye makeup or just want natural yet polished lips. The lipliner will keep the color on your lips. But lipgloss doesn’t last as long as lipstick so don’t forget to bring your lipgloss with you for touchups.
