Top Pick for Stunning Eyebrows

Another favorite product I’ve recently discovered, that I cannot go without, is MAC Eyebrow Finisher.

MAC Brow Finisher - Perfect Eyebrows

It’s quite possibly the perfect eyebrow product.  It’s a wax-style slim tool that’s convenient, doesn’t need sharpening, and lets you sweep on beautiful brows easily. Most ladies know how tricky it is to use an eyebrow pencil without looking really angry with super dark brows. And who wants to deal with multiple tools to groom your eyebrows? Besides tweezers and an occasional visit for eyebrow threading, the MAC Eyebrow Finisher in Wheat is all I need for a polished look.

According to MAC, it is “A slimline wax-style grooming tool specially formulated to shape and hold the brows in place while providing them with a sheer, slick, polished and conditioned-looking finish. Smooth, non-sticky, easy to use.”

It comes in 5 colors including Clear. Personally, I recommend getting a color close to your eyebrow color, so you don’t have to deal with pencils, powders, and brushes. Use it after putting all your makeup on, so you can get rid of any traces of face powder in your brows. Just sweep it on, and your unruly eyebrows will stay put, look groomed, filled it, polished, and conditioned in seconds…It’s really easy and a no-fuss way to define and hold those eyebrows (even with no makeup) for a beautiful, put-together look.

Pick up a MAC Brow finisher at the MAC website or one of their stores in the mall or counters in the department store.

Top Pick for Face Primer: “Prime Time”

My best friend and I were chatting recently about the best makeup products. She was looking to buy some great makeup for an upcoming wedding. One of her problems was deciding what to put on her eyelids that would last as long as the party would. I had to recommend one of my favorite makeup finds…primer! Particularly “Prime Time” from Sephora.

Prime Time Makeup Face Primer

Primer is a new makeup tool for me. But since I’ve tried it, and found the perfect primer, I can’t live without it. Why? A good primer fills in any bumps and smooths the surface of your skin for flawless makeup application. But the best thing is that it absorbs oil for hours, which means your eyeshadow and makeup will stay on longer. Your makeup will stay fresh and beautiful with less need for touchups.

Our favorite is Bare Escentuals “Prime Time” because of its smooth, untacky texture, and its long-lasting staying power. Put on a small amount on your eyelids and the rest of your face, and let it dry for a few minutes before putting on the rest of your makeup. You can grab yours at Sephora or wherever they sell Bare Escentuals products.

Sex and the City, Fleet Week, and Devil Wears Prada…

Sex and the City, Fleet Week Sailors, and More

Today I was inspired to write about Sex and the City again with the approach of the May 30 movie premiere. I was walking in NYC this afternoon, spotting sailors left and right in the streets during Fleet Week…then I passed a billboard for the movie. (Remember that Sex and the City episode where the girls were enjoying Fleet Week?) I couldn’t help notice how luminescent Sarah Jessica Parker’s makeup looked in the poster. Then flashback to this article I found the other day about the celebrity makeup artist, Nicki Lieberman, who developed the strategy for Carrie’s makeup looks throughout the show.

The article also talks about the makeup looks achieved in Devil Wears Prada. Great fashion flick for anyone who loves fashion or appreciates a good laugh. How did they create those makeup looks? The celebrity makeup artist, Nicky Lieberman, reveals her top tips. She believes less is more, and we must always groom those brows! Check out the full article here .

Perfect Eyebrows Primer 101: Just Like Angelina Jolie

Get Stunning Eyebrows Like Angelina Jolie

Eyebrows Like Angelina Jolie

A friend of ours, a gorgeous girl, has never paid much attention to her eyebrows. In high school, when she didn’t wear any makeup (God forbid!), it was understandable she didn’t want to bother. But now that she bloomed into a sexy hot mama, why in the world didn’t she give a second thought to her brows?

Because we’re old friends and care about her, I had to set her straight. Nicely. Gently, but firmly. I even went to her first eyebrow threading appointment with her for support and to get them done, too. So after 10 minutes in the chair, how did she look? The difference? Amazing! Incredible! She was always so beautiful, but now her eyebrows framed her features and face perfectly! The sculpted brows brought out her nice eyes and appeared more feminine. Having perfect brows is the kind of thing that makes any woman look 100% better even without makeup.

So when we ran across this how-to on creating stunning eyebrows , we knew we had to share…Enjoy!

Celebrity Makeup Styles: What’s Your’s?

We found a great article on different celebrity makeup styles. Obviously, every woman is unique and has her own style and makeup preferences. So it makes sense that we’re inspired by our favorite celebs and their makeup looks. Our styles are definitely dramatic and classic. Rihanna, Beyonce, and Eva Longoria are our dramatic divas whose makeup we LOVE. And the classic makeup, timeless beauties we adore are Angelina Jolie and Halle Barry.

Dramatic Makeup Style Diva

At first, it seems that dramatic and classic are complete opposites. But for us, it’s fun to mix and match different looks. Classic makeup is ideal for a sophisticated daytime look, while dramatic is perfect and sexy for the fun party nights. We might even do Natural, Romantic, and Ingenue styles sometimes based on our mood or outfit.

A Natural makeup style like Jennifer Gardner works for everyday casual, while Ingenue makeup like Kate Hudson is angelic for springtime (or blondes). Romantic makeup could work for day or night, depending on your coloring, outfit, or preference.

What’s your celebrity makeup style and who inspires your makeup?

Madonna’s Celebrity Look for “4 Minutes”

Have you seen Madonna in her “4 Minutes” video with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland? Madonna is music royalty, a living legend, and she looks unbelievably fabulous for her age. Madge looks great–we love that song! Sure, there are probably computerized touch-ups and plastic surgery but even so…she looks smokin’! We LOVE Madonna for as long as we can remember!

Madonna 4 Minutes Video Makeup Look

Thanks to BellaSugar for inspiring this post with their full makeup look for Madonna’s “4 Minutes” celebrity makeup look in her new video. We’d add the following to their great tips to get Madge’s vampy video look:

Eyebrows: Use a small angled makeup brush to lightly apply powder to eyebrows in a shade that matches your natural color. Tap the brush and fill in your brows with a light hand.

Eyes: Add false eyelashes if you’d like more length or fullness. Curl your eyelashes in 3 parts with an eyelash curler–by the root, middle and tips of your lashes. We recommend Shu Uemera eyelash curlers and MAC eyelashes.

Blush: For oily or combination skin, you might want to use a powder blush or bronzer instead of a cream or liquid based one. It’ll stay longer and adhere to your skin bettter. We adore MAC powder bronzers for a natural sun-kissed look.

After you get Madonna’s celebrity makeup look, get her music or go to her concert. (We’ve been singing “4 Minutes” in our head for days now–too catchy!) Tickets are now available for Madonna’s latest concert tour. Are you going to her concert?

Get Angelina Jolie’s Soft Cat Eyes Look

Angelina Jolie, humanitarian celeb of the year, has great presence and beauty. She always looks classy and elegant in her dress and makeup. How can you copy her celebrity makeup look?

Angelina Jolie’s Sexy Soft Cat Eyes

How to Get Angelina Jolie’s Soft Cat Eyes:

Get an eyeliner pencil (or eye shadow powder and brush). Use a gray pencil to line both the lower and upper lashes from the outer corner to 3/4 of the way across, just past the iris. Smudge and blend the line the rest of the way to the inner corner of the eye. To complete the look, fill in your eyebrows with a brow wax pencil or powder in a matching shade. We love MAC’s eyebrow wax stick. Today we were inspired by Beauty Riot to feature Angie. Check out their full article to copy Angelina Jolie’s complete makeup look.

Angelina Jolie just announced that she and proud papa Brad Pitt are expecting twins in August! Congratulations to the mom and dad and their growing United Nations of kids! I’ve lost count of how many kids they have. Do you think they’ll have/adopt more?

Oprah’s Favorite Things - Best Beauty Products

Oprah’s Favorite Things - Beauty Finds

Did you catch Oprah’s Favorite Things yesterday? Gail King, Oprah’s best friend and editor of O magazine, featured several top beauty picks for the summer including: Cle de Peau lipstick, NARS kabuki makeup brush, Presciptives tube concealer, and Maybelline mineral makeup.

I’d love to try the Cle de Peau lipsticks. They were these intriguing long black skinny tubes with vibrant lipstick colors. I haven’t used a long tube lipstick in years but it used to be one of my favorite things. Seems like Oprah was lovin the lipsticks, too! I’d also love to try the short, cute little kabuki brush from NARS, too. The “Fit flops” looked really comfortable and stylish, too.

While it was pretty funny to watch how excited the audience got, I can understand–they got LOTS of great goodies from Santa Oprah. This was the best episode to be on, in my opinion. They also got Mary J. Blige’s CD “Growing Pains” and a practical and cute weekender bag on wheels. That Oprah’s got great taste…

Have you tried any of these Oprah’s Favorite Things? Which do you want to try?

Sex and the City Movie Premiere: All Back Together Again

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Catrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis get together on May 12, 2008 for the Sex and the City’s Movie World Premiere in London. The movie is out in theatres on May 30!

Sex and the City Movie Premiere

Sex and the City will be a big hit in theatres. I saw part of the filming of the movie a few months ago. Walking to work, which was in front of the NY Public Library at the time, I saw all the crowds and film crew.  I knew immediately it had to be SATC!  They filmed in front of the library steps for most of the day, and I got to see Big and all the ladies in the cast!  I was just a few feet away.  They looked gorgeous!  They were wearing beautiful gowns and apparently filming the wedding scene.  I won’t give anything else away…

I even got to see Big again on the way home.  Definitely a fun diversion for the day… Where’s the camera when you need one??

Well, the SATC ladies look fabulous at the premiere. Who do you think has the best makeup celebrity look and outfit? Who’s your favorite Sex and the City character?
